A monthly roundup of news and updates from MX

October 2021 Edition

MX Welcomes New Participants

MX is excited to announce the addition of Inter Valley Health Plan (IVHP) to the list of health plan participants.  IVHP is a not-for-profit, Medicare Advantage HMO health plan that has been servicing Riverside, San Bernardino, and portions of Los Angeles and Orange Counties for more than 40 years. Over the coming months, the MX network will benefit from the rich claims data for their Medicare patients.

In addition, we want to welcome Hi-Desert Medical Center to our growing network. Hi-Desert is a 59-bed acute primary care facility located in Joshua Tree. It offers the residents and their families first-rate health care close to home.  Hi-Desert provides a wide range of quality inpatient and outpatient diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services, home health and hospice services, and a variety of community outreach programs to the community.

Data Exchange Framework Stakeholder Advisory Group Meeting Recap

The DxF will govern the required exchange of health information by 2024 – impacting hospitals, providers, health plans, and Californians across the state.  Earlier this month, the Data Exchange Framework Stakeholder Advisory Group convened to continue its important work to develop recommendations for the California Health and Human Services (CHHS) Data Exchange Framework (DxF).

The Advisory Group reviewed the proposed roadmap for the development of the DxF “end-product” and focused on the first step: “Scenario Development & Data Exchange Issue Identification.” There was a healthy discussion between members and public commenters alike on the various scenarios that would require the exchange of health and/or human service information between organizations. Key themes are highlighted in our meeting recap located on our website.

The next Advisory Group meeting will be held on November 10, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. We invite you to follow @ManifestMedEx on Twitter for live tweets, share your thoughts with us, and stay tuned for more updates!

MX Portal Enhancements

New "Send Invite” feature for MX Portal Administrators

Manifest MedEx has improved the MX Portal account creation process, specifically around sending the initial email that introduces new users to the MX platform and provides them with login and access information. In the MX Admin tool, when creating new users, the “Send Invite” checkbox is now automatically selected, ensuring new users automatically receive the important email notifying them that their account has been created.

Password requirements

Starting this week, the MX Portal will display password requirements to assist with the password creation process.

Manifest MedEx Wants to Hear From You!

At Manifest MedEx, our top priority is getting you the data you need when you need it.  This month we’re focused on understanding what types of data are most important to our MX Access users.  Please take 2 minutes to let us know what data is most important for you in MX Access by responding to this short participant engagement survey.

MX User Groups

The MX Customer Success team hosts Monthly User Groups on a variety of topics aimed at helping participants get the most out of the data they receive from MX and to learn from each other. Earlier this month we hosted a health plan user group focused on using data from MX for HEDIS measures, and soon we’ll host a hospital user group on how MX tools and data may be able to help hospitals track performance on quality measures.  If there’s a topic you’d like to tee up for a future MX user group, please send your ideas to the MX Customer Success Team at customersuccess@manifestmedex.org.

News and Events

Cal-Matters published an article by Manifest MedEx CEO Claudia Williams on ways to ensure that California's new $315 million population health management service for Medi-Cal meets its goal of transforming and improving care for the 14 million Californians enrolled in Medi-Cal. This new platform aims to help health plans, providers and the Medi-Cal program identify people who need health services based on the analysis of clinical, claims and other data. Visionary government projects of this size and scale can often falter in implementation. Read more on the three ways to ensure California’s population health vision succeeds.

In a new op-ed in Healthcare Innovation, Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) CEO Jarrod McNaughton calls on leaders across the state to think big in envisioning data exchange in California and learn from the HIE success in Inland Empire. We are proud of our partnership with IEHP and echo Jarrod’s call to find a structure that works for the entire state by taking key steps around defining the data sharing mandate, securing ongoing funding to continue to build HIE infrastructure while ensuring provider equity, and identifying the right “carrots” and “sticks” so that the AB133 data sharing mandate has real impact. Read the full article to learn more about the steps that CA state leaders must take to replicate the MX success in Inland Empire!

The affiliation between the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC) and the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement (NRHI) became official on October 1. The two leading national networks combined to become Civitas Network for Health, a national collaborative comprised of member organizations working to use health information exchange, health data, and multi-stakeholder, cross-sector approaches to improve health. Collectively, Civitas represents more than 95% of the United States, and membership opportunities are available.
