California’s nonprofit health data network earns gold standard security certification
Emeryville, CA – September 4, 2019 – Manifest MedEx (MX) today announced that its systems and applications that support its notification and longitudinal patient record services—MX Notify and MX Access—have successfully met the requirements of HITRUST CSF® certification, demonstrating the highest levels of security in the healthcare industry. As a standards organization, HITRUST® has spent over a decade integrating regulatory requirements like HIPAA and related best practices in security to help businesses manage their information security risk and compliance requirements.
This achievement places the nonprofit among an elite group of organizations that have earned this certification. By including federal and state regulations, standards and frameworks, and incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST CSF helps address these challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls.
The above mentioned systems facilitate the secure, real-time exchange of information for over 17 million patients across California. “Protecting the patient information in the Manifest MedEx network has always been—and will continue to be—a top priority. Our team worked quickly and diligently for nearly a year to obtain HITRUST status,” said David Kates, Chief Technology Officer at Manifest MedEx. “We’re raising the bar in achieving this certification, with one goal in mind: delivering ongoing value to our participating healthcare organizations by keeping patient data safe.”
“HITRUST works to ensure the appropriate information protection requirements are met when sensitive information is accessed or stored in a cloud environment,” said Ken Vander Wal, Chief Compliance Officer, HITRUST. “We are pleased that Manifest MedEx has taken the steps necessary to achieve HITRUST CSF Certified status, and we expect their customers to have confidence in this designation.”
