Privacy Protecting patient privacy when exchanging life-saving health information

It’s our job to keep patient health data as secure and protected as possible.

Manifest MedEx abides by stringent technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect and maintain the privacy and security of every patient’s personal information as it is shared to support patient care. We respect patients’ right to privacy and follow all applicable state and federal privacy laws.

That means:

  • Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Patients can opt-out of having their information shared through MX.
  • Health plans can only access data for their members.
  • MX has a detailed set of policies that all participants must agree to and follow.
  • Data cannot be used for health plan contracting.

Protecting patient information in the Manifest MedEx network is an important organizational priority. Manifest MedEx follows all state and federal privacy and security laws to protect patient health information. The Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules are the main Federal laws that protect patient health information.

We consider the privacy and security protections outlined by these laws to be minimum standards, and many of our policies go above and beyond what is required by law. Our policies help protect patients from potential risks which could include errors in clinical data, information breaches, and inappropriate use.
