Notify FAQ Answers to common questions about MX Notify
MX Notify supports coordination of care, reduction in hospital readmission and overutilization by notifying subscribers, in real-time, whenever their patients get admitted or discharged from a hospital, Emergency Department (ED) and/or other urgent care facilities.
More often than not, providers are not notified (or not notified in a timely manner) when their patients are admitted or discharged from a medical facility. Participants who have been using notification services such as MX Notify have reported improvements in care coordination, patient follow up, and reduction in readmissions, overutilization and waste.
MX receives ADT (Admit-Discharge-Transfer) messages from hospitals, ED and/or other urgent care facilities that are MX participants. The system then compares patients’ demographics in the message to those provided in the patient panel. When there is a match and the patient has been successfully identified, a notification is sent to the subscriber, alerting him/her of the event.
Any MX participant.
Today, notifications are most commonly triggered by admit, discharge and transfer (ADT) events. We can work with you to determine what other event types will meet your needs.
“Insurance panel” refers to the insurance information provided in patient panel whereas “Insurance ADT” is the insurance provided in the ADT message received from the sending facility.
MX receives the encounter information from the sending source in near real-time. Therefore, the subscriber is notified within moments of receiving the encounter information.
Following initial sign up, notifications are available to view through the MX online notification portal. Additional delivery methods, such as integration with an existing EMR and Direct Secure Message (DSM), will be available in Q2 2018.
Subscribers are asked to submit a patient panel which lists the patients they wish to be notified on. The template is available on our website.
Patient panels can be submitted weekly and are due by Friday, 5pm PST. We will update the system with the latest panel provided on Mondays at Noon PST.
Based on your preference, we can either replace the current panel or apply the changes in the new one (add, remove or change rows). If you prefer your new panel to be a delta only (add, remove, change), you will need to specify the desired change in each row of the panel file itself.
